Ex- National Football League player Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to address an murder attempt allegation connected with a gunfire that occurred in May, with his attorney submitting a not guilty response on his behalf.

Correctional documents in Essex, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was freed on Tuesday early for his move to the state of Florida. Brown, one of the most popular figures in the NFL, had relinquished extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was taken after being apprehended in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an email that he has previously filed a documented innocent response to the attempted murder accusation. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday early for a bail proceeding, Eiglarsh added.

As per his arrest order, Brown is accused of seizing a pistol from a security employee after a star fighting contest in May and firing two bullets at a person he had clashed with previously. The alleged victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told authorities that one shot grazed his throat.

Eiglarsh said that Brown was simply safeguarding himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was compelled to take were exclusively in self-defense against the claimed person’s hostile conduct. Brown was assaulted that night and acted within his legal entitlement to protect himself,” Eiglarsh commented.

Brown was not right away apprehended because at first authorities did not identify Nantambu as a target. It wasn’t until subsequently in May that Nantambu provided a full statement about the event to authorities and named Brown as the gunman, the affidavit says.

From his social media content, Brown had been residing in the city of Dubai for a number of months. In a message after the incident, Brown stated he was protecting himself because he was “jumped by multiple persons who attempted to rob my possessions and inflict physical injury to me.”

A second-degree murder attempt allegation in the state of Florida imposes a maximum 15-year incarceration sentence and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the instance of a conviction.

Brown has dealt with several judicial challenges over the years. He previously had been charged of assault of a vehicle operator, multiple abuse accusations, neglect to pay parental support and additional incidents.

During a 2021 contest with his team against the New York Jets, Brown took off his jersey, protective gear and gloves and left the stadium, causing his termination by the franchise and effectively halting his professional tenure.

Brown, who completed twelve years in the National Football League, was an elite player who passed most of his time with Pittsburgh. For his professional life, Brown had over 900 catches for over twelve thousand two hundred ninety-one distance, the twenty-eighth highest of record. He was a seven-time all-star choice.
