Krasznahorkai was awarded the prestigious Nobel in Literary Arts.

The Magyar novelist was celebrated "for his compelling and prophetic collection that, in the midst of apocalyptic fear, confirms the might of creative expression."

The author has authored five books and received numerous other literary honors, for instance the 2015 Booker International, and the 2013's best translated work award in Fiction for his debut novel Satantango, a postmodern creation concerning the conclusion of the world.

Krasznahorkai is the second Magyar author to obtain the honor subsequent to the late Imre Kertesz, who received in the year 2002.

Brought into the world in 1954, Krasznahorkai gained fame in 1985 when he issued Satantango, which he converted for the movies in 1994.

The black-and-white film, by Magyar film-maker Béla Tarr, is notable for its lengthy length.

The author's further novels comprise:

  • The Melancholy of Resistance (1989)
  • War & War (1999)
  • Seiobo There Below (2008)

Nobel committee portrayed him as "a outstanding grand author in the European custom that spans through Kafka to Thomas Bernhard, and is characterised by absurdism and grotesque overindulgence."

His recent book Herscht 07769 has been labeled as a major contemporary Deutsch novel, due to its accuracy in illustrating the nation's communal unrest prior to the COVID-19.

It is a depiction of a modern village in Thuringia, Deutschland, troubled by social anarchy, murder and incendiarism.

"Kind colossus Herscht Florian is an orphan, raised by a neo-Nazi who has mentored him as a street art cleaner.

"The leader, a Bach enthusiast, is furious that a person is applying wolf symbol symbols across the memorials to the famed artist in their east German town."

A critique described it as "accordingly grim from start to conclusion."

The writer's most recent ironic work, "Zsömle Odavan", returns to the Hungarian setting.

The main character is ninety-one-year-old Uncle Kada, who has a hidden entitlement to the throne but has gone to great lengths to fade away from the globe.
