NFL Roundup: Denver Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a close win over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Performance Wins Game
Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following giving up a two-point play in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 offensive yards during the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes remaining.
Record Difficulties for Jets Attack
Despite their horrendous performance, the Jets still had possession with a chance to drive for a possible winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
Fields struggled throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with negative ten net yards passing, the lowest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," Glenn commented after the game.
