The Prince of Wales Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in South America
The Prince of Wales will represent the United Nations climate conference in South America in the coming weeks, as announced by royal officials.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were present at the scientific institution event, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Commitment
King Charles has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be held in Brazil before the COP summit.
Royal sources have characterized William's involvement at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an important role in "environmental negotiations".
Recent Engagements
The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the official car, were introduced to guests including environmentalists, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.
This involvement included speaking together with French leader Macron of France and other world leaders at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.
Earthshot Awards Connection
The COP30 summit will coincide with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the eve of he joins the climate conference on November 6th.
Last week the prince referred to the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".
Monarch's Environmental Record
The King has been a key figure at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the survival risks challenging our world over global warming, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the King told attendees.
